Token
A crypto asset built on top of an existing blockchain. Anyone can create one cheaply.
A coin is the main unit of its own blockchain, while a token runs on a blockchain that already exists. Creating a token takes little time or money, so there are thousands of them. A token can be part of a real project or nothing more than code with a marketing budget.
