Rebalancing

Moving your investments back to the mix you planned, after some parts have grown faster than others.

Example: you plan 60% stocks and 40% bonds. Stocks rise and become 65% of the total. Rebalancing means selling some stocks or adding new money to bonds until you are back at 60/40. Many people do it once a year.
