Real yield
An interest rate or bond yield minus expected inflation. It shows what money really earns.
A bond paying 4% with 3% expected inflation has a real yield of about 1%. With 5% expected inflation, the real yield is about −1%. Gold pays no interest, so rising real yields often weigh on it. A tendency, not a law.
